outside of a 7-eleven store. police tell us the victim was stabbed and brutally beaten. investigators are still looking for suspects. it's not clear what led up to that attack. happening now san jose firefighters are back on the scene of a house fire. that started just after 7:00 last night in the garage of a home on midhurste court. the flames spread to the attic and roof. firefighters are back at the house due to concerns the roof might collapse. they plan to stay there for at least another 30 minutes. in just a few hours a meet willing be held at a san mateo elementary school where a nine- year-old girl was abducted from a restroom and molested. alex savidge is at park side elementary school where the school is on high alert. >> reporter: even though there has been an arrest in this case, parents, students, and staff members still on edge

here at parkside elementary school. that is why later on this morning police and the superintendent will be holding a meeting here on campus to talk about what happened. it was last friday when a nine- year-old girl was kidnapped from a bathroom she eventually managed to escape. they file charged against bradley mrozak of san francisco. he groped that girl, put his hand over her mouth inside the bathroom and carried her off campus. police say eventually the girl kicked and you are pushed her attacker and managed to get away. the superintendent calls this a very unusual event that has shaken parents and at this mornings meeting they will focus on campus security. >> safety is a big concern and we take our jobs so seriously and we practice and prepare and plan. so when someone gets on campus that doesn't belong, we are surprised. >> reporter: the assistant superintendent tells ktvu

changes are being considered. friday's kidnapping happened right around the time school was letting out where a lot of extra people were on campus. the accused kidnapper in this case was arraigned on felony kidnapping charges and in the meantime those concerned parents here were gathered for that meeting. it gets started at 8:30 this morning. live this morning in san mateo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. a former san francisco human rights commissioner is due to be arraigned today on child pornography charges. 66-year-old larry brinkon was arrested last week after police say he found graphic photos of his children on his computer. he was first arrested on similar charges back in june but at that time prosecutors did not file charges saying they needed more to investigate. police are checking surveillance video at a safeway where five armed men robbed the

checkout lines. they stormed the store at 9:00 last night. empty the register in minutes and got away. to one was hurt but the store closed while investigators looked for clues. two men from sunnyvale are under arrest accused of stealing 49 laptops from facebook's old headquarters. brandon simon is a security guard that used to work at the palo alto campus. he was arrested with travis calhoun. a security guard notified them after he saw the two men carrying the laptops out of the building. now facebook completed its move to menlo park last year but still had equipment at that old location. computer hacker group says it's targeting u.s. bank today. yesterday the same group targeted wells fargo's website. the bank says the cyber attacked caused some problems but customer information was

not compromised. last week the group disrupted service on the bank of america and chase website. and today cyber attacks against u.s. bank is set to start at 7:30 this morning our time. the group says it will continue until a video they say insults the prophet muhammad is removed from the internet. iranian president speaks today at the u.n. general assembly in new york. some leaders are planning to boycott the speech. he accused the u.s. of bullying and domination and also said a new world order needs to be established. president obama addressed the assembly yesterday and said time is running out for iran to settle dispute over its nuclear program. two political heavy weights are added to the list of people upset over that controversial referee call. coming up in nine minutes the impact of the fofootball game o the presidential race. now 4:36. the chp is investigating a

frightening rolling shootout on interstate 580 in castro valley. take a look. you can see the bullet holes in this ford taurus. someone in a passing car opened fire on that car around 7:30 last night. the driver and passengers of the ford left the car on the side of the freeway and ran off. the driver of the other car also got away. so far no reports of injuries or arrests but the chp shut down two miles of westbound 580 for 90 minutes while officers searched for evidence. coming up on 4:37. let's go over to sal to check in on the early morning commute. hi sal. >> good morning, pam. we are off to a nice start if you are driving around the bay area any time soon. let's take a look at interstate 80 westbound it looks pretty good heading out to the mccarthur maze with no major problem there is. it has been a very nice drive for you. also the morning commute continues to look good on westbound bay bridge this approach is light getting into san francisco should be no trouble. and the morning commute

good morning the usual fog will retreat back to the coast. >> thank you, steve. the san diego sheriff says he is cautiously optimistic about the recovery of two deputies that were injured during a 15 minute shootout yesterday. investigators say a 30-year-old suspect opened fire during a child sex abuse investigation. that suspect was also injured. both deputies under went surgery but there is no further information on their condition. a hearing is scheduled for 2:00 this afternoon for the mor fan hill -- morgan hill man accuse the of murdering sierra lamar. investigators say they do have dna evidence linking her to the

lamar. agents conducted a survey yesterday in an area along flood read in the town of linden which is east of stockton. skeletal remains were found in nearby wells. shermantine is on death row. his partner committed suicide in prison. in election news this morning one of the races in the upcoming elections would be to choose a different senator. senator dianne feinstein is seeking reelection. she is being challenged by this woman. and even she admits a lot of people don't know a lot about her. one of her top priorities is to keep jobs in california. >> when you have the governor of nevada and texas coming to our state monthly and enticing wises out, we'll have to put together a jobs panel and really work with corporations here in california to convince them to stay. >> and she also says feinstein is out of touch and doesn't understand new media.

time now 4:44. in the race for the white house president obama and republican presidential nominee target the battleground state of ohio today. president obama will campaign at college campuses hoping to court young voters. romney continues his bus tour. he will be working hard to reverse the polls that show president obama is leading in ohio. republican vice presidential candidate paul ryan is tying president obama to the replacement ref knees. >> i think these refs work part time for the obama administration and budget office. they see the national debt clock staring them in the face. they see a debt crisis and ignore and pretend it didn't happen. >> the wisconsin congressman was upset the seattle sea hawks beat his packers to a

questionable call. com cast is shutting down all three of the call centers in northern california and eliminating more than 1,000 jobs. 700 of those jobs are in morgan hill and livermore. com cast says it cost too much to run the centers in california so it is moving the jobs to denver, seattle, and portland. workers are upset they say the timing is very bad. >> i just think it's really unexpected and really terrible they did this right before the holidays. because you know we have families and did all these training classes. >> com cast says the effected workers can transfer to the new locations or apply for new jobs in california. if they don't they will receive a receive residence pack -- receive a severance package from the company. the school has until march to come up with a plan to reorganize its finances and avoid losing its accreditation.

the board of trustees is expected to discuss the closures during a meeting tomorrow. some of the youngest students in public schools are now considered chronically absent. the department of education says 10% of kindergartens miss one day of school every two weeks whether for excused or unexcused absences. that is hurting the students as they fall behind in learning the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic that they need to know before they start first grade. san francisco is dealing with the first human case of the west nile virus in seven years. health officials say an unidentified man was hospitalized with the virus late last month. he has not traveled recently so he most likely contracted the illness here in the bay area. just last week a bird was found near san francisco college with the west nile virus. state parks will stay open for another two years. governor brown signed a bill yesterday that protects all 278

hit by a barrage of bullets yesterday in oakland. officers marked at least three dozen casings on the ground at 16th street near seminary avenue. the woman was just sitting in the car about 3:30 when a bullet pierced the window spraying her with broken glass. she did not have to go to the hospital. police leave this was a drive by shooting. bart says an electrical surge was the cause of a site in san francisco ten days ago. this is an image from security cameras. you can see a brief flash of morning in the upper left there. then smoke filling the station. barts chief engineer says it was a 1,000-volts electricity caused by metallic debris on the track. there was never any fire and the surge caused minimal damage. san francisco residents can expect a full weekend ahead packed with playoff, parties, and music and nearly one million projected visitors.
